Both members and volunteers are welcome to join us at our work parties!
July 8th, 2012
At this work party we will be:
- given a short lesson how to “pinch off” and how to use and clean shears between cuts.
- fruit thinning (with educational instructions on the why and how of fruit thinning for long term orchard health).
- installing a pollinator flower garden with Erin Udal of the EYA’s Planning for Pollinator’s project (including mini-workshop on bee friendly plants and native pollinator habitat).
- watering, weeding and other general maintenance.
Work parties are from 10am – 4pm.
We request that members attend any 4 of the 6 hours.
(Examples: 10am-2pm or 12pm-4pm).
What to Bring:
-potluck dish
-bowl and cutlery
-water bottle to keep yourself hydrated
-tools you are able to share (On July 8th, we are needing: hand weeding tools and wheelbarrows)
(Please note: There will be no on-site washroom for this workparty. The nearest public washroom is at Trout Lake Park, a 10 –15 minute walk from Copley).
